Overview
The eMT cluster is approved by the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GGRT) within the framework of the Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EPAnEK) / Axis 02 – Collaborative Innovation Consortia (CICs), based on a relevant decision by GGRT. The Supporting Entity of this project is the company ena Development Consultants.
The vision and direction of the eMT cluster were shaped by ena Development Consultants, leveraging their extensive knowledge of the needs and economic activities of businesses and organizations in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
The eMT cluster highlights the substantial benefits generated by Digital Transformation for businesses and the economy, as well as the developmental opportunities provided by Collaborative Innovation Consortia. Its expanded composition (15 technology companies as members, supported by an additional 2 technology companies and 3 academic institutions) operates with a matrix structure, dividing horizontally the development cycle of a technology project and vertically its technological units, which are separated as follows:
- eMT Metaplatform,
- eMT Agro,
- eMT Manufacturing,
- eMT SmartCities & Tourism,
- eMT HR support.
The primary purpose of the eMT cluster is to contribute to the familiarization of the business, economic and social community with new technologies as tools for development, and to encourage innovation and the consequent entrepreneurship.
By shaping a high technical and scientific background, closely linked to economic activities such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and transportation, the eMT cluster acts as a lever of empowerment in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which is already on a developmental trajectory due to its geographical position and natural wealth. The eMT cluster contributes to the economic development of the area, the maintenance of its workforce, the natural connection between academic research and business operations, and the attraction of investments.
Furthermore, the transfer of innovation into business practice conducted through the eMT cluster serves as a reference point for the exchange of expertise with other clusters, research, and business groups in Greece and the European Union.
Its goals include:
- To serve as a mechanism for gathering best-of-breed technologies that contribute to the faster adaptation of businesses to the digital environment to improving their entrepreneurship.

The role of EfB:
- The online tool for carbon footprint calculation and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) allows the real-time collection, analysis, and monitoring of sustainability performance for products, processes, and services. It innovatively calculates carbon footprint and LCA analysis in real-time using data from sensors integrated into the production process (Internet-of-Things / IoT sensors), enhancing result accuracy.
- Farm and Fleet Management Information System (FMIS): This system includes interoperable IoT applications and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for holistic evaluation of information collected in the field from nearby and remote sensors, agricultural machinery, and robotic systems. It enables the application of precision agriculture technologies in the daily practices of the agricultural sector, from farmers to agronomists.
